The guarantee, in plain language

Your first three coffees: we owe you a match you love. If one misses — your original or one you switched to — tell us, and we'll make it right, including re-matching you. After that, the safety net: pick a coffee yourself and it misses, and we'll make that right too, once a year. The honest part: we don't argue about taste — you say it missed, we fix it. (Our three low-caffeine coffees are chosen for the caffeine rather than matched, so the matching guarantee doesn't apply to them; switching between them is always free.)

Most of what you think of as flavor is actually smell, and the flavors in coffee are the same families you already know from food: berry, cocoa, caramel, citrus, spice. So if we know the foods and smells you love, we can point you to the coffees you'll love — without you ever having to describe a coffee or learn a single tasting term.

That's why the quiz asks about chocolate, fruit, and dessert instead of "notes." It's built on the same flavor language the coffee world uses to score coffee professionally, translated back into everyday food. And every coffee we carry is tasted and mapped on that same language by our own panel, so your answers and our coffees speak the same terms.

The questions are the easy part, and you'll see all of them. What turns your answers into your cup is the part we built ourselves and keep behind the curtain: a matching model that reads your food preferences, places you among our coffees, and finds the closest fit — then sharpens every time you rate one. That model is the real work here, and it's ours.

We'll be honest about what it is: not magic, just careful matching grounded in food science and your own ratings, which is why it keeps getting better the more you drink. A great first cup is a strong prediction, not a promise about your exact taste — so we back it with one anyway: if your first coffee misses, tell us and we'll make it right.

How does matching work?

You answer a few quick questions about food you already love; we translate those into a taste profile and match you across all 47 coffees we carry. You’ll see your best match on the spot, your two runners-up arrive by email and in your account, and every coffee you rate makes the next match sharper.

What if I don't like my coffee?

Tell us. With a subscription, your first three coffees are covered: if one misses — your original or one you switched to — we’ll make it right, including re-matching you. After that, if a coffee you picked yourself misses, we’ll make that right too, once a year. We never argue about taste. (Our three low-caffeine coffees are chosen for the caffeine rather than matched, so the matching guarantee doesn’t apply to them — switching between them is always free.)

Can I change my coffee?

Anytime, free. Your account shows your top three matches — switch among them with one tap and it applies to your next shipment. You can also pick anything from the shelf.

Whole bean or ground?

Both. Choose your grind on the coffee's page — whole bean, or ground coarse, drip, or fine to match how you brew.

Can I pause, skip, or cancel?

Anytime, in about three taps, from Manage my coffee. Pause for 1–3 months and we’ll
resume automatically (with a reminder first); canceling is one click with no phone calls and no guilt trip.

How does "coffee that keeps your pace" work?

Tell us roughly how much you brew and we size the bag and time deliveries to match,
tuning over your first few shipments. Running low? Tap “ship it now” and your
next bag moves up — all your future dates follow. Piling up? One tap slows it down.

Is the quiz free? Do I have to subscribe at the end?

Can I skip the quiz and pick my own coffee?

Yes. The quiz asks how your household brews either way — that’s what sizes and paces your bags — and then lets you choose: let it match you, or pick the coffee yourself from our shelves. If you pick your own and it misses, the guarantee still has you: we’ll match you properly from there.
